It places health in the context of our relationship to the ecosystem of the planet. This course is suitable for anyone wanting an introduction to global and planetary health. It will be particularly useful for healthcare professionals as it meets the recommendations of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) for what healthcare professionals need to know about global health. This course has been written and will be facilitated by Dr John Acres and Dr Rachel Locke. Dr Acres coordinates the Wessex Global Health Network and is a Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing's Centre for Global Health. Dr Rachel Locke is a Senior Lecturer in International Development: Global Health in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing and a convenor of the University's Centre for Global Health.
Lifestyle medicine for cancer prevention and survivorshipDescriptionThis course will provide the knowledge and skills required to implement evidence-based lifestyle medicine strategies for cancer prevention and living well after a cancer diagnosis. Although aimed at practicing healthcare professionals from all disciplines, it also has relevance to the wider public. The content covers the six pillars of lifestyle medicine, namely healthy diets, physical activity, restorative sleep, healthy relationships, management of stress and avoidance of harmful substances, and provides actionable take aways for personal and professional practice. The course aims to provide individuals and practitioners the confidence to disseminate this information amongst their patients, families and their communities.
Success at Postgraduate StudyDescriptionThis course will provide the knowledge and skills required to study at postgraduate level (level 7), which is also referred to as postgraduate level study. The course will introduce students to the critical analysis skills, academic writing and research skills.
